Los principiantes Lorde e Imagine Dragons serán los máximos contendientes en la próxima entrega de los premios Billboard, mientras que Prince Royce es el artista latino que compite en el mayor número de categorías.
Royce es finalista para todos los premios disponibles para artistas latinos, incluyendo mejor álbum latino por «Soy el mismo» y mejor canción latina por «Darte un beso». El astro de la bachata también se medirá con Marc Anthony, Gerardo Ortiz, Jenni Rivera y Romeo Santos en la categoría de Mejor artista latino.
Por su parte la cantante neozelandesa y la banda estadounidense son finalistas en 12 categorías cada uno, ella gracias a su laureado tema multiplatino «Royals»; ellos por «Radioactive», igualmente exitoso. Ambos hits fueron postulados a mejor canción del Hot 100 junto con «Blurred Lines» de Robin Thicke, «Roar» de Katy Perry y «Wrecking Ball» de Miley Cyrus.
Imagine Dragons también se medirá por el premio al artista del año con Cyrus, Perry, Bruno Mars y Justin Timberlake, quien consiguió 11 candidaturas.
«The 20/20 Experience» de Timberlake, el disco más vendido del año pasado, competirá con producciones de Beyonce, Eminem, Drake y Luke Bryan por el premio al mejor álbum.
El resto de los finalistas en la categoría de mejor canción latina son Enrique Iglesias con Romeo Santos por «Loco», Marc Anthony por «Vivir mi vida», Daddy Yankee por «Limbo» y Romeo Santos por «Propuesta indecente». En la categoría de mejor álbum latino compiten Jenni Rivera por «1969-Siempre: En Vivo Desde Monterrey: Parte 1», Romeo Santos por «Fórmula: Vol.2», Alejandro Fernández por «Confidencias» y Marc Anthony por «3.0»
La ceremonia de los Premios Billboard se transmitirá en vivo por ABC desde el MGM Grand Garden Arena de Las Vegas el 18 de mayo.
